Xperia Z5 Compact has a Snapdragon 810 processor, but only 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage space, compared with the 3GB or 32GB on Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium. Xperia Z5 Compact's specifications are similar to the Xperia Z5, but cannot say the same about its design. If Z5 remain faithful to the same general appearance, but comes with an internal structure of aluminum, which continues outside the frame of the same material, Z5 Compact comes in a plastic housing, which feels that they made low cost sacrifices. Xperia Z5 Compact, although not quite as thick as its predecessors, appears to be so due to stronger margins in combination with the design.
It's 4.6-inch display is not bad, thankfully, the brightness is almost excessive, but the colors are pleasantly balanced, images are sharp and you will not have problems with a strong sunlight. The folks at Sony have improved the tactile recognition, so now the phone is more sensitive and recognize the touch, even when the display is partly wet. We've tested the theory, we used the phone with wet hands and went quite well. Another strength that we cannot dispute is the main camera.
The processor is powerful and we did not encounter any problems with it, also, it seems that Sony has learned something of the recent happenings, and did an excellent job in optimizing its OS, so the hardware does not overheats, although the CPU is identical to the Z3+. In terms of performance, those from AndroidPit did a test showing that the phone is somewhere between Z3+ and OnePlus 2 that have the same Snapdragon 810 processor.
Obviously one of the reasons why users would look at Sony Xperia Z5 is the camera, which is remarkable. The 23 megapixel sensor comes with not only sharper images, but even with increased zooming of five times and also has an autofocus of 0.03 seconds. Considering that Samsung and LG have praised their performance of 0.7 and 0.6 seconds, I think we understand about where Sony stands.
I think that's the only thing that we were really excited. I was able to make clear and focused pictures even in motion, this happened to me only with LG G Flex 2. Details are highlighted and the phone is doing very well with low light images.
Sony is well generally in battery chapter and Xperia Z5 Compact is not making an exception from here. The company believes that the phone can remain "alive" even two days with normal use, thanks to its special functions. However, the 2,700 mAh sounds a promising start and puts the device on a higher level compared to other competitors. Stamina option and the intelligent screen also adds extra points here. What is very interesting is that Sony pause the screen when displaying a still image, stopping the CPU so as to save energy.
Conclusion - Xperia Z5 Compact
Xperia Z5 features a more than decent performance to match other companies, but the design became redundant and excessive price puts it out of the list of potential good investments.
While earnings are on a downward trend, Sony has continued to release good phones, but apparently was not enough. We could enjoy the last days of the Xperia phone, because just a few days ago the CEO Kazuo Hirai told Reuters that the Mobile division has basically one year to reach zero expenditures of the profit ratio. If this does not happen, they will think about other options.
What do you think about this new smartphone? It is really such a big improvement for you?
