A few months ago we could have very clearly said that the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet is by far the best Android tablet on the market.
Meanwhile, however, on the market appeared new devices and the Sony tablet is now part of a serious competitor. This is, of course, about the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, whose review we will publish in the near future. Returning to the Sony Tablet, should note that at the time of its launch, there was a true Android rival for iPad Air 2. Samsung Galaxy Tab S, though highly appreciated, was considered by some lower compared to Apple's device.
The new device from Sony doesn't bring extremely important changes when it comes to its design. As can be seen very easily, tablet benefit from the same simple building that we met at the Z2 Tablet: is extremely thin, light and highly resistant to water. If you are fans of Sony devices, then you will fall in love with it from the start. The Japanese did not use metal, but opted for an extremely gentle polycarbonate and received an extremely good grip.
In terms of thickness, we are dealing with a tablet with a thickness of 6.1 millimeters, being tied in this regard with iPad Air 2. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, on the other hand, is 0.5 millimeters thin, having only 5.6 mm. However, when you play or take a picture this can be a disadvantage, because the sharp edges of the display. As for weight, Sony Xperia Tablet weighs only 392 Z4 grams, as much as Samsung device (which has a smaller screen, 9.7 inches).
The buttons for starting the screen and for volume are located on the left, those from Sony inserting the micro USB port on the left side of the screen. The latter has a diagonal of 10.1 and supports QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.
One of the most interesting applications installed on the tablet is PlayStation Remote Play. Thus, given that you have a PS4, you can connect the console and tablet at the same WiFi network in order to get a second screen. This way, you can use the superb display with a density of about 300 pixels per inch for enjoying your favorite games on the console. You do not even need to connect the controller. You can play GTA V or Bloodborne using just the touchscreen of the tablet, but we don't advise you to do this.
The list of specifications for Sony Xperia Tablet Z4 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Its overheating problems were among the most discussed topics of the last month, prompting those from Samsung to give up Snapdragon 810 for their own Exynos 7420 when they made the new Galaxy S6. However, Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet seems to be a happy case. The tablet was not overheating while applications were updated or while you are playing videos on YouTube and even when playing.
Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet - Pro Points
The performances are outstanding, Sony used some of the best components available at the time of launch. Besides Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, under its QHD display of 10.1 inches we can find 3GB RAM, 32GB data storage and 6.000mAh battery. We don't think there is a game on the Play Store currently to slow this tablet, regardless of the level of detail. Multitasking, gaming, video playback, they all seem to be a trifle for Xperia Tablet Z4.
The display, as we've mentioned, has a diagonal of 10.1 inches and supports QHD resolution, one of the best that you can find on any tablet. As expected, the image quality offered is unbeatable and viewing angles are wide. You will not have to worry about the brightness of the screen, it behaves good on both the dark and the bright light.
Battery life is one to be envied. Its 6.000mAh battery capacity is not impressive given the tablet's size and display resolution. The Japanese claim that the tablet can play up to 17 hours of video without needing a recharge.
Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet - Against Points
Sony has a fixed price that does not make the Xperia Tablet Z4 one of the most affordable devices on the market. The tablet offers top performance and supports Remote Play, but this does not explain the difference in price compared to the Nexus 9 and Galaxy Tab S.
Sony Xperia Z4 - Conclusion
Finally, we come to the same question: Should we buy a Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet? As usual, the answer is "it depends". If the quality/price is what you are interested and want to save some money, then there are many other better solutions on the market. About two (Samsung Galaxy Tab S and Nexus 9). If the price, however, is not so important in relation to performance and you have a PlayStation 4, then Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet is one of the best options that you have available.
