Here they are. Two of the most expected devices of the year, if not the most expected of all. The Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung and the newest edition to the iPhone family by Apple are facing each other in this smartphone comparison, so we can see what all the fuss is about. The devices come with elegant and classy exterior designs as well as total powerhouses under the hood, so let’s get into this comparison and see some specifics.
The iPhone 6 Plus comes with an aluminum exterior which is the defining element for all iPhones and is pretty much Apple’s trademark for premium design. The phone measures 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1 mm and weighs 172 grams.
The Note 4 on the other hand Samsung has dropped the usual leather-like design for the back cover, which could been seen on previous Note models, and uses a metal bezel that maintains the premium aspect. The device measures 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm and weighs 176 grams, making it slightly heavier than the iPhone, and also thicker.
The device uses an IPS LCD display that has a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The pixel density for the 5.5 inch screen is 401 ppi, and the protection is assured by a layer of shatterproof glass, with an oleophobic coating as well, to keep all those fingerprints off.
Samsung’s flagship pablet has an even bigger 5.7 inch screen and operates at a 1440 x 2560 resolution. The display has a 515 ppi pixel density and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for extra protection.
As per GSM Arena, the iPhone 6 Plus comes with a dual core Cyclone processor that has a 1.4 GHz clock speed. The device uses the A8 chip from Apple, which runs on a 64-bit architecture. In terms of memory, the phone offers 16, 64 and 128 GB variants for internal storage, and packs 1 GB of RAM as well.
For the processor, the Note 4 has to options. Your unit may have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 or the Exynos 5433 chipset, and depending on which of them it is, you will have either the Krait 450 quad core CPU, or the Cortex A53 quad core unit combined with a Cortex A57 quad core processor, adding up to an octa core CPU.
The iPhone 6 Plus has an 8 MP camera that uses a 3264 x 2448 resolution. The lens is equipped with great features such as dual tone flash or OIS, and benefits from the support of the front facing camera which has 1.2 MP of its own. You can shoot 1080p video at 60 fps.
The camera combo for the Note 4 consists of a 16 MP lens on the rear and a 3.7 MP front facing camera. You can record 1080p at 60 fps and 2160p at 30 fps.
The 2915 mAh battery of the iPhone 6 Plus is a clear sign that Apple listens to its users once in a while. They wanted a better battery, and the manufacturer finally delivered, as you now have 24 hours of 3G talk time at your disposal. The 3220 mAh unit of the Note 4 is bigger than what the iPhone 6 Plus offers, but still falls behind in terms of how many hours it can hold up, in theory at least, as on GSM Arena it is stated that you get 20 hours of talk time on 3G networks.
The Galaxy Note 4 is about $800 on Amazon, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a starting price of $900.
