From the vast supply of smartphones that tempts us every year, it is extremely difficult to choose a device that meets the design requirements and the performance without seriously affecting our budget.
Let's start presenting the latest smartphone equipped with very good processing power (dual core at 1.5 GHz, 1 GB RAM) and an operating system up-to-date: Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich.
It's design is solid, ceramic unibody obtained through an advanced aluminum oxidation (micro arc oxidation), with the corners in a slightly rounded shape, size 7.8 mm thin and extremely lightweight with a mass of approximately 120 grams. The HTC One S is extremely easy. No doubt there are some who say that 120 grams is not even that little, but enough to look at other similar devices with 4.3-inch screen to make sure that such a weight cannot compete with plastic housing or base metal.
The unibody design has, however, two drawbacks. The first one is pretty serious - no microSD card slot, with the 16 GB internal memory, of which at least 2 GB are already busy with the system and preinstalled applications. The second drawback is that the battery can not be changed by the user but in a workshop, doesn't affect us too much. Current batteries are durable and have very good reliability, rarely happen to break out of the blue.
HTC One S is a touch-type phone, the soft keys below the display are also touch-type. The controls the physical connections are the volume keys on the side, Power button, MicroUSB interface and an audio jack of 3.5 mm.
Its 8 MP camera lens is centrally located on the terminal, and is accompanied by a LED flash. There is also a secondary camera on the front, above the display, slightly on the right side.
Configuration is based on a dual-core unit and is more than sufficient for any application and any multi-tasking on the smartphones today. HTC One S, although it is exceeded today by the quad core "performers" still makes a good impression of everyday use.
I think this smartphone, but also others equipped with similar hardware, is a great choice without compromise even for very demanding users.
Has a 8 MP sensor, autofocus, video recording Full HD 1080p with shooting opportunity while filming. These are ingredients that HTC One tempts us with its image and video capturing performance.
HTC One S is among the Beats Audio device, a company whose image and whose products were promoted by the famous artist Dr. Dre. Without relying on this combination, we were impressed by the product.
Sound quality is flawless, but to enhance the audio chipset you need some superior headphones in exchance for those supplied in the package. They do not carry the Beats brand (as expected) and provides a pleasant sound, balanced. With some great headphones, HTC One can become a top player in the audio segment.
GPS receiver is complemented by the familiar Google Maps and the HTC Locations, an application that lets you download maps from around the world on the device to navigate even without an Internet connection.
HTC One S has a 1650 mAh battery that fails to "feed" the device about two days if used moderately: two hours of music, two hours of Internet, two hours of games and conversations short and to the point.
Pluses and minuses
- [+] Excellent design, solid body, but also easy and aesthetically;
- [+] Top quality audio;
- [+] One of the fastest smartphones on the market (except quad core devices)
- [-] Lacks the microSD card slot, has 16 GB internal memory (about 14 GB free)
HTC One S looks and behaves like a top phone. As long as you find the 16 GB enough, the only way to expand is on the "cloud" server, you will hardly find other aspects to criticize.
