One of the more criticized smartphone makers on the market in terms of camera performance, HTC, has recently made a comeback by bringing a better and more impressive camera to the table with the release of the HTC 10 smartphone. Along with the better camera come some pretty impressive specs all packed up in a premium metal design.
Here’s a comparison between the HTC 10 and the iPhone 6S as the latter also sports similar specs and camera performance to help you decide which one better suits your interests.
Firstly, note that both of the phones feature a metal chassis, which is becoming more common even among mid-range phones which used to be told apart from high range ones on the basis of plastic design alone. But nowadays, even these phones tend to have some metal chassis in the form of either magnesium or aluminum alloys.
When we compare the metal design of the HTC 10 and the iPhone 6S, we notice that the latter has a more stylish appearance than the former because the HTC is somewhat lager and thicker – even with aluminum chambered edges on the rear.
The most interesting thing is that both devices sport touch fingerprint readers in the Home key that is positioned right underneath their display, thus making the far more easy to operate. However, the Home key has slightly different features depending on the phone model. For instance, on the HTC 10 device, it is touch based and it’s surrounded by the back and menu keys. On the other hand, the Home button on the iPhone 6S is a physical one that you can press.
The HTC 10 also has physical volume and lock buttons on the sides and they are easy to press and have a responsive tactile feedback plus a toothed imprint on the power button so that it’s easier to find it when you’re not looking directly at it.
Both phones feature many display customization options and they integrate social media feeds and news. However, HTC 10 features a Freestyle layout that allows you to create a personal cool theme where you can either hide apps or put different stickers for the ones you want to see on your home screen.
The HTC 10 and the iPhone 6S feature very different chipsets, the Snapdragong 820 and the Apple A9 repectively, but both are very powerful.
HTC 10 sports 4GB of RAM which is more than enough to run the latest apps and games plus 32 or 64 GB of storage along with an 200 GB microSD card, whereas the 6S sports less RAM but it’s just as efficient and it comes with either 16, 64 or 128 GB of storage.
Both devices are spot on in the connectivity department. But it should be noted that HTC 10 can also support Apple’s AirPlay streaming feature.
Both the HTC 10 and the iPhone 6S feature a 12 MP rear camera but with different apertures. Unlike the iPhone 6s camera, the HTC 10 one has optical stabilisation and greater light sensitivity for taking pictures in the dark due to a laser AF.
However, it shoots pictures in less warm colors than the Apple device. The 6S also shoots softer, cleaner and usually accurate colored photos.
When it comes to video, both device support recording and viewing 4K footage, but the HTC 10 records better audio
In terms of battery, the HTC 10 features a 3000mAh one that lasts for 7 hours and 10 minutes. It also comes with a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. On the other hand, the iPhone 6S has a 1715mAh battery that lasts 8 hours and 15 minutes.
