The Newest tablet from Google meets the newest tablet from Apple. Both come with high expectations from the market followers, and both promise to impress. However, many want to know which would they be better off with, as they can’t decide which one to buy, so we are going to compare the two tablets and see what each has to offer.
The Google tablet measures 153.68 x 228.25 x 7.95 mm and weighs 425 grams. The Apple iPad Air 2 measures 6.1 mm in thickness and weighs 444 grams, therefore it is slimmer and heavier at the same time.
Starting off with the Nexus 9, we have a Tegra K1 processor powered by NVIDIA on a 64-bit platform that handles the processing requirements, while the graphics are the responsibility of the Kepler GPU included. The device also has 2 GB of RAM. The Air 2 comes with the A8X processing unit and a GPU that improves the performance from previous models with more than double.
The Air 2 has the same internal storage variants as te iPhone 6 smartphone, namely 16, 64 and 128 GB, while the Nexus 9 only comes with 16 and 32 GB
The camera on the Nexus 9 has 8 MP and uses LED flash when needed, while the front facing camera has 1.6 MP. The Apple device also comes with 8 MP on the rear, but uses the iSight technology which gives it a massive performance boost, as the Air 2 can shoot 43 MP panoramas among others.
The battery unit present within the Nexus 9 has a total capacity of 6700 mAh, which makes it capable of sustaining the device’s life for at least 8.5 hours when under heavy usage, but in normal conditions you get about 9 hours. The iPad also offers power for about 10 hours of usage.
In terms of hardware, the two devices are top notch and you will probably be satisfied from that point of vie regardless of which one you choose. However, a very important difference is the operating system. In your decision, it is best if also include the OS and which ecosystem you’re a lean more towards. If all your devices are Apple and iOS, you will be better off with the Air 2, probably. If not, and you find yourself using more Android devices, you should consider the Nexus 9.
In comparison with the old Apple iPad, Air iPad 2 is lighter, thinner and the screen uses a new manufacturing technology which makes it suitable for use in direct sunlight, but the resolution and size remained the same. It does not matter too much that the resolution has not changed, because it already gives very good pixel density and you don't need to use the tablet to less than 30 cm from the eye in normal usage scenarios.
It would be worthwhile to buy a tablet iPad Air 2 if you want the best Apple processor with the best camera on a tablet and a very thin tablet, well, comparing with Nexus 9, isn't thinner than it.
Suggestively named Nexus 9, the tablet stands out not necessarily with its diagonal of 8.9" and especially with the 4:3 screen, the first of its kind for a Google branded tablet. It is suitable for some applications, but film lovers will not appreciate the inevitable black bands while playing FullHD videos in 16:9 format.
You can get the Nexus 9 from Amazon.com for about $480. The Air 2 is about $600 on Amazon.
