Two of the top positions in the smartphone market this year have been occupied by the One M8 from HTC, and Apple’s newest offering, the iPhone 6. The two handsets deserve a seat at that table, but for those of you wondering which device is actually better for them, we have come up with this comparison that might help sort things out. That being said, let’s jump strait into specifications and see what’s up with the two.
HTC One M8
The HTC flagship was released in March and measures 146.4 x 70.6 x 9.4 mm. The weight of this device is 160 grams, while the display measures 5 inches. The Super LCD3 display comes with a 1080 x 1920 resolution and a 441 ppi pixel density. There is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top so the screen won’t crack easily.
Its aluminum body lacks ceramic side bands and has narrowed edges, giving the impression of flexibility despite the fact that the thickness of the phone in the central portion is unchanged. Here we find the front camera of 5MP, brightness with proximity sensors and hidden in the upper speaker grille is the LED signal.
Moving on, we have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, says GSM Arena. There is a quad core Krait 400 clocked at 2.3 GHz, with the Adreno 330 GPU backing it up. In terms of RAM, we have 2 GB, ready to smoothen your experience. With a microSD slot that allows up to 128 GB, users can still enjoy the original 16 or 32 GB of storage, if they don’t need more. With a dual 4MP camera on the back, the One M8 can shoot at 2588 x 1520 and use features such as HDR and panorama. There is also a 5 MP camera on the front facing panel, which can shoot 1080p at 30fps. The M8 rocks Android KitKat or Lollipop and uses a 2600 mAh battery. You can pick it up for about $360 on Amazon.com.
Apple iPhone 6
According to GSM Arena, the latest Apple flagship measures 138.1 x 67 x 6.9 mm and weighs no more than 129 grams. The display that comes with this device measures 4.7 inches and has a 750 x 1334 resolution. The IPS LCD display has a 326 ppi pixel density and is protected by shatterproof glass.
The processing is done by the dual core Cyclone chip clocked at 1.4 GHz. The A8 chipset from Apple is present here, with the PowerVR GX6450 GPU securing the graphics. There are 1 B of RAM and 16, 64 and 128 GB variants for internal storage. The camera that comes on the back has 8 MP and uses a 3264 x 2448 resolution, and is complemented by the 1.2 MP camera on the front. For the battery, the device uses a unit that has a total capacity of 1810 mAh. The handset is about $750 on Amazon.com.
Which one would you choose between them? Do you think that iPhone 6 is truly better than HTC One M8? Wait until the new HTC One M9 comes out.
