Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is a business laptop designed to survive. The model was announced in May 2011 and proved to be the thinnest and best performing laptop from the ThinkPad class. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 combines the business technology with multimedia.

This model comes equipped with the Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM, 160GB Intel SSD and integrated video card Intel HD 3000. The laptop has done well during the tests, but the video card pulls it down a little when running on high-quality multimedia materials, when encoding audio/video, etc.

To be more precise, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 measures 17 mm in the thickest point and weighs about 1.7Kg. It is light and strong thanks to the inner casing and its magnesium support. It has a 13.3-inch screen using Corning Gorilla glass for extra durability, rigidity and resistance to scratches.

The model was noted for its qualities of design, finish, and choice of materials, innovation, environmental impact, functionality, ergonomics and brand value among other issues. Thus he won the prestigious iF Product Design Award 2012 (the iF product design award is an internationally recognized label for winning design and iF brand has become a symbol of outstanding achievement in design) in the category of computers. The choice was made from nearly 3,000 entries. IF Design Awards will take place on February 10, 2012 in Munich.

The interesting part of this laptop is the fitting ports. Although it is so thin, Lenovo did not stop until the ThinkPad X1 endowed with the following ports 1 x RJ-45, 1 x DisplayPort, 1 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 2.0, 1 x HDMI 1 x E-SATA 1 x Firewire and power port.

Lenovo carefully modernized the keyboard layout, while retaining the same functionality to touch and experience the classic ThinkPad keyboard. Its simplified design eliminates inherited several key issues, and SysRq, while preserving the rich functionality, including multimedia and dedicated voice-calling controls. In low light, users can turn on the light behind the keypad for the first time on a business-class ThinkPad laptop. In addition, keeping the ThinkPad tradition, the keyboard is resistant to liquid spills.

While talking about a business laptop, the ThinkPad X1 comes with a powerful Dolby Home Theater audio system and display high-definition v4 (350 NIT). Also, with the HDMI port and Intel Wireless Display, you can choose to connect or to issue 1080p wirelessly to a TV or projector. You just need to have the WiDi receiver connected to the TV.

ThinkPad notebooks from Lenovo presents a platform for new innovations that meet the major needs from the business segment, including video and voice calling. Because the optional 720p camera with mobile broadband, high definition microphones and advanced calling modes, the ThinkPad X1 laptop provides clear video calls.
