Gigabyte is known as a leading manufacturer of portables. Many are skeptical about the Taiwanese notebook manufacturer and that is because it was distinguished by graphics cards and motherboards dedicated for PC. But do not forget that ASUS and MSI manufacturers have in their portfolio PC components and also have reliable portable.
After testing the Gigabyte S1080 tablet and the 3-in-1 booktop Gigabyte T1132 I can say that I'm pleasantly surprised by the achievements of Gigabyte. And for the list to be complete, we tested a multimedia laptop named Gigabyte P2532.
Gigabyte P2532 is a multimedia laptop with gaming demands. It has quite an amazing design, but a bit awkward, with slightly inclined edges. The model we tested came in full black, giving the impression of sobriety. I would have liked to see some red stripes, special keys for multimedia and gaming, several black spots.
But I wasn't disappointed for its display or configuration. We can found an Intel Core i7-2630QM at 2.0GHz, 8GB DDR3, 750 GB hard drive with 7200rpm and a NVIDIA GeForce GT550M video card with 2GB VRAM. As you can see, the model is not new, but we were glad to see that you can still run smoothly even complex applications and next-generation games.
The display is 15.6 inches and comes with Full HD 1920 x 1080, LED backlight. The picture is good, colors are pleasing, and has great viewing angles.
Gigabyte P2532 is a model of attention if you are looking for a portable multimedia and even for gaming. It has a strong and balanced configuration, a futuristic design, provides a good image and the sound is superior to that encountered in most existing laptops from the market. Not up to the sound system of Bang & Olufsen ICEpower, but is not negligible.
Gigabyte P2532 strengths:
+ Solid construction, quality materials;
+ Very good and balanced configuration for a multimedia laptop;
+ Good sound;
+ Good cooling system;
+ Display 15.6-inch Full HD 1920 x 1080.
Gigabyte P2532 weaknesses:
- Design with sloped edges;
- The touchpad is slightly uncomfortable by its position.
It has a futuristic design with sharp edges and strategically placed ventilation grilles in the back. The casing is manufactured from hard plastic and the notebook enjoys a solid structure.
Lifting the lid, we can find a full size keyboard, complete chiclet type, the keys are well defined and easy to use. The touchpad is slightly uncomfortable with the location of the center palmrest.
Let's talk about the ports now. Gigabyte P2532 comes equipped with USB (3.0) x 2, eSATA / USB (2.0) combo x 1, HDMI, D-sub, RJ45, Mic-in, Earphone-out, 4-in-1 Card Reader (SD / MMC / MS / MS Pro), DC-in Jack and VGA.
Its 15.6-inch screen comes with a full HD resolution. I can say that is one of the best displays that we tested. Viewing angles are good, picture is clear, colors are pleasing. Regardless of the applications the visual experience is pleasant.
The sound is provided by a 5 + 1 audio system (1.5 Watt Speaker x 4, woofer speaker x 1), the subwoofer is positioned on the bottom. In combination with THX TruStudio Pro technology, the sound provided by Gigabyte P2532 is an excellent one, superior to many existing laptops in the market.
Gigabyte P2532 also supports the NVIDIA Optimus technology, activating its dedicated video card only when necessary, so that the battery life is extended for greater progress on working time. And speaking of autonomy, Gigabyte P2532 resist heroically to 1.5 hours fully loaded 100% and up to 4 hours surfing the Internet. Autonomy varies depending on usage.
