Generation G is familiar to gamers, belonging to Republic of Gamers (Asus ROG) and is recognized by the aggressive design borrowed from American fighter planes Nighthawk Stealth Fighter F-117A. The new G53Jw 3D enjoy the same futuristic design, sturdy, nice looking, with sharp lines and impressive. Like the model of 17.3-inch the laptop is noticeably thicker in the back and thinner than the front. This is mainly due to the cooling system and locations away from the main components of user interaction.
We do not recommend using this "monster" in the arms or on textile surfaces for two reasons. Ventilation can not be done properly and weighs about 4 pounds, not too comfortable.
The touchpad is amazing, generous and easy to use with its two buttons. It seemed more practical and easier to press than the one encountered in G73Jw. And do not forget the palmrest's fine, gentle and comfortable. Asus G53/G73 has ergonomic design in accordance with ISO 9241-4. This refers to the angle of placement of the keyboard for maximum comfort to typing.
In the ports and connectivity, G53Jw 3D is great, but are arranged ergonomically. Most are on the right side of the laptop: headphone, microphone, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, HDMI, VGA, LAN, DC-in power supply. On the left are only two USB 2.0 ports and DVD-RW or Blu-ray combo. In the front we have the 8-in-1 card reader and LED panel. Personally I disagree with USB ports placed very forward to this model. Can make harder the access to the drive or using the mouse by the left handers. If we look to the right side, we also see that here the ports are in front.
I will not insist too much on appearance and will go to technical specifications and opinions about the 3D Vision.
Asus G53Jw 3D enjoys a strong configuration, which can not miss the Core i7 720Q processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M Fermi and the 8 GB DDR3 RAM.
Intel Core i7-720QM processor is launched in autumn 2009. Standard operating frequency is 1.6 GHz, but can reach up to 2.8 GHz and even 2.9 GHz with the Turbo Boost technology. It is built on 45nm technology, with 6MB Smart Cache and 45 W TDP. Doesn't has an integrated video card. But it is doing very well in applications and can run even the latest games.
The whole system is maintained by a 8 cell battery with 5200 mAh, 75 Wh. It is located behind the notebook between the two areas of ventilation. Its autonomy is something higher than that of the G51. In normal use, autonomy can be up to 2.5h. In 3D mode the battery life drops significantly, reaching about 1 hour and less. But we can not be disappointed. Under the case has a strong configuration, and components (especially processor and video card) are large energy consumers. However, is much better than the last generation.
Asus G53Jw is one of the most powerful gaming models. The video card plays an important role in this laptop configuration, developing good performance in gaming and multimedia applications. Typically, a gaming laptop is considered a desktop replacement because it comes to weigh a lot (3.6KG), and the dimensions are quite large. Not made to be carried daily in the office or in other enviroments. The model presented above also brings NVIDIA 3D Vision, providing a very pleasant experience in 3D mode. You have the cinema at your home. Autonomy is modest, but we can not claim. I had a surprise finding that is not very noisy. Like the G73, G53 series is quiet.
