Launched in the summer of 2010, Acer Aspire One D255 was characterized by two features: dual core and dual-boot. The model stands out by its different style, elegant and robust, with the ability to boot between Windows 7 and Android 2.1, and also the price.
Acer Aspire One D255 is not the best choice for netbooks, but with the advantages of a dual-core and dual-boot is worth some attention. Android operating system is not very effective as expected but for its price is amazing.
The Dual Core Intel Atom N550 processor doing its job very well in certain applications and when it comes to multitasking it is quite awesome, but cannot play Full HD multimedia content. We you are able to render more smoothly a video format Mkv. to 720p. Acer Aspire One D255 is saved by its very good price compared with competing models. For blogging, internet, office is wonderful!
Acer Aspire One D255 Strengths:
- Dual-core processor
- Better battery autonomy
- Very good price
Acer Aspire One D255 Weaknesses:
- Android operating system is not very useful for most of the users
- Integrated Intel GMA 3150 video card - will not play videos in Full HD
On the outside, the Acer Aspire One D255 looks a bit different from other models from the Aspire One. Compared with the Acer Aspire One D260, D255 is better built.
It has a glossy cover, is a good cleaner of prints. The same reflective material we can see around the display, but also has a matte addition to the keyboard. Weighs only 1.25Kg, much less than its competing models: Samsung NF210 - 1.35Kg, Toshiba NB520 - 1.32Kg, HP Mini 110 and Mini 210 - 1.45Kg.
The keyboard is a classic that we can meet at Acer models. The keys are large, but without a clearly defined space between them and gives the impression of something cramped. When typing fast, you tend to touch the neighboring keys, depending on your location and your fingers, but you will get used to it.
Regarding the ports, the Acer Aspire One D255 doesn't disappoint us and we can apply the standard version. On the right side we find: card reader, audio jack in/out, USB port, a Kensington lock slot and an RJ-45 network port. On the left we have a VGA and two USB ports. The 1.3MP webcam doesn't provide a clear picture, but on the video call on messenger or Skype is doing decent.
Display and sound
Acer Aspire One D255 has a 10.1-inch display and a classic 1024 x 600 resolution. There is a high performance screen. Plus its sleek and high reflectivity is what makes it very difficult to use it natural light conditions or in badly lit environments. We could say that the display is not the strong point of this netbook.
The sound, it's amazing. You cannot compare it with the sound played of the Harman/Kardon speakers from the Toshiba NB520, but has done well for a netbook.
Acer Aspire One D255 doesn't have notable performances, but does well for a mini laptop. You can use a lot for internet and blogging. You can do many things with him, use it for its portability, office and office applications, Internet and entertainment. The Intel 3150 integrated video card is working well for a mini laptop. A good autonomy - for about 8 hours with a 6 cell battery. For a normal day at work is even better. No need to take the charger with you.
Regarding temperature, the Acer Aspire One D255 doesn't have problems. The average is around 45-50 degreest. You can even use it very well in your arms. And it is not noisy.
